?? Durante a nossa viagem de Natal visitamos a Quinta do Vale do Cesto, um projeto que começou em 2015 e que tem como principal objetivo trazer para os seus vinhos a essência e a tradição do Dão.
Este Alva Magna Tinto 2016, cujo nome é uma referência ao rio Alva, foi-nos ofertado pela propriedade e é elaborado a partir de Vinhas Velhas que foram adquiridas há cerca de 80 anos. Por conta disso, não é possível definir as suas castas. A sua fermentação foi feita em lagares de granito e, depois de estagiar em barricas de carvalho francês, o vinho ficou um tempo na adega guardado.
Na taça apresenta-se muito bonito, com uma bela cor rubi. Na verdade, se dissessem que este vinho era de 2019 eu acreditava. Impressionante!
O mesmo acontece nos aromas que fazem sentir de imediato fruta fresca. Já o estágio e a fermentação trazem um pouco de cravo. Este é um vinho que ainda vai abrir muito e, por isso, deve ser tomado devagar.
Na boca deixa os dentes lisos e os taninos estão tranquilos. É daqueles vinhos elegantes, com muita estrutura e boa acidez. Um autêntico veludo passando pela língua!
Um verdadeiro vinho do Dão, este Alva Magna harmoniza na perfeição com pratos como filet au proive acompanhado de batatas gratinadas.
?? During our Christmas trip we visited Quinta do Vale do Cesto, a project that started in 2015 and whose main objective is to bring the essence and tradition of Dão to its wines.
This Alva Magna Tinto 2016, whose name is a reference to the river Alva, was offered to us by the property and is made from Vinhas Velhas that were acquired about 80 years ago. Because of this, it is not possible to define their varieties. Its fermentation took place in granite presses and, after aging in French oak barrels, the wine was kept in the cellar for a while.
In the glass it is very beautiful, with a beautiful ruby color. In fact, if they said this wine was from 2019 I would believe it. Impressive!
The same goes for aromas that make fresh fruit feel immediately. The stage and the fermentation bring a little clove. This is a wine that will still open a lot and, therefore, should be taken slowly.
In the mouth it leaves the teeth smooth and the tannins are calm. It is one of those elegant wines, with a lot of structure and good acidity. An authentic velvet passing through the tongue!
A true Dão wine, this Alva Magna harmonizes perfectly with dishes such as filet au proive accompanied by gratin potatoes.
